A Dilemma, a Dress & a Shower.

A Dilemma, a Dress & a Shower.

As most of you know my Bridal shower was this past weekend and it was everything I could have dreamed of and more. From my bridal party to my guests, each and every lady present spoiled me and I am still on the emotional high from the day; not sure how I’m going to keep it together on our actual wedding day! My Mom went above and beyond from getting some of my favorite photos of Matt and I printed on canvases to renting this amazing chair AND getting leis shipped in from Hawaii (yes… from Hawaii!) she truly outdid herself and left me remembering where I get my party planning enjoyment from πŸ™‚ .

Being the guest of honor this past weekend though (so strange) I was told to not ask many questions and just allow myself to be surprised; I knew the date and time of the shower and that was about the extent of my knowledge of the day. So to occupy myself, I focused on what I’d wear for the day and getting ready.

I’m sure many of you are thinking that sounds easy. But the reality was my Bridal shower prep started with a full-on dress dilemma.

Ok I know, dilemma sounds dramatic, but it’s pretty much the only way to describe my experience. Back in November, I found (what I thought was) the perfect dress for my Bridal shower. It was a Free People original and it was absolutely stunning. I had found it on mega sale on Black Friday and when it arrived it indeed was perfect.

Fast forward to June 15th though – I tried the dress on again and it hung in places where it shouldn’t hang and looked like I was lost in an array of fabric – NOT cute. I don’t even have a picture of it on my body because it was that bad. In a partial panic mode, I rush ordered two dresses online; when they arrived they were beautiful but just not exactly my style. I put them in my closet as a backup if I couldn’t find anything in the next week or so.

Come June 23rd – I next day rush ordered THE dress that I wore from Nordstrom and immediately fell in love with it when it arrived. It had one flaw though, it was too big and way too long. So Wednesday afternoon, June 27th (three days before my shower), I found a tailor who not only took in my dress but hemmed it in ONE DAY. I showed back up at the tailor on June 29th at 3 PM and the dress was not only ready it was perfect.

After about two weeks of uncertainty about what I’d wear I officially had a dress and luckily everything else easily fell into place.

Baltimore hair and makeup artist Debbe Salvino glammed me up the morning of my shower – making me feel like a pure goddess.

And Rachel Mulherin layered me in some of the most beautiful jewels I ever laid eyes on.

As I mentioned – the entire day was absolutely perfect – from the decorations and flowers to the authentic Hawaiian food served by a caterer that also traveled FROM Hawaii. I couldn’t have asked for a better shower day.

Sharing the full look and dress details below – you’ll notice my dress is missing a section from the middle that was ‘deleted’ to make it short enough for my 5’1″ self. πŸ™‚
