Galentine’s Day and the Celebration Female Friendships

Galentine’s Day and the Celebration Female Friendships

Happy February all! I’ve been a little MIA from blog posts these past few weeks because I’ve been super busy with some big life things – I’ll spill the beans on that soon enough 🙂 .

A couple weeks back though I was able to be a part of a super special Galentine’s Day inspired shoot and I felt the need to pop on and share these gorgeous photos and my top reasons why I wholeheartedly believe in the celebration of Galentine’s Day.

While, what some call a ‘Hallmark holiday’, Valentine’s Day has been celebrated for centuries, Galentine’s day is a more recent holiday from the fictional mind of Leslie Knope (the IRL Amy Poehler) from Parks and Recreation. What started out as a cute cheesey holiday in 2010 on a television show has evolved into a real life holiday where women across the world come together, support each other and overall have fun.

Typically celebrated the day before Valentines Day (February 13th), Galentine’s Day is a way to celebrate the joys of female friendship – whether thats over a boozy brunch, a happy hour or just spending an evening in with your best girlfriends, and if you want to get even more girlfriends you can totally also meet new people at sites like online.

Now while there is no right or wrong way to celebrate – there are a few local to Baltimore events happening that I’d strongly recommend checking out one or both!

Alysha of @DiscoverCharmCity and Shae of Beautifully Together are hosting a Galentine’s Day party at Sangria on N. Charles St – 5:30 – 8PM 2/13 – The event is FREE but they are collecting feminine products for @helpingup Mission!

The Society of Excellent Women and Sentimental Fools are hosting a Galentine’s Day party at Monument City Brewing – 6:30 – 10PM 2/13 – The event is $15 and you can grab your tickets here!

So whether you already have plans or are grabbing a ticket to one of those events – just take the time to celebrate your fellow bad-ass female friends – because as Carrie Bradshaw once said – ‘Maybe our girlfriends are our soul-mates and guys are just people to have fun with.’
