While engagement photos are not always done by every couple – I knew when we booked our photographer that it was something I absolutely wanted to do and made sure to account for it within our wedding budget.
I’m sure some of you are wondering what the benefit of doing an Engagement session with www.tracyalchayeb.com is or even why it was so important to me. Matt and I take a good amount of photos – but most of our photos consist of either funny faces, sideways smiles or Matt’s eyes closed (…yes, it’s a thing that happens often enough to mention). So it was important that we were able to get some photos to keep for ourselves (outside of our wedding photos that will come) but more importantly I wanted us both to get the opportunity to get in front of a camera together for a ‘practice run’ if you will.
If engagement photos aren’t in your budget then that is completely understandable – but if they are I’ll be the first to say that they are 1000% times worth it – for two main reasons.
First – you get a chance to meet your photographer or photographers before your wedding. The session gives you the opportunity to get to know one another and ultimately feel more comfortable on the day of your wedding when it comes to taking the million photos you’ll be taking. Second – it gives you and your partner the opportunity to (like I mentioned before) practice being in front of the camera. As much as I get my photo taken for blog photos – Matt and I never had professional photos taken so it was important to me that we had this practice.
So now – to our Engagement session :).
I cannot say enough amazing things about With Love & Embers – we met on a Monday afternoon at Barcocina in Fells Point – it was humid and raining and we had no ‘rain plan’. We sat together for almost an hour chatting and having a drink (their idea – which is genius if you ask me). This time together helped us get to know Jillian and Ryan a little better and made Matt and I feel more comfortable.
As we sat there the rain slowly subsided and the sun began to come out – it was going to be a perfect evening for photos. We slowly packed up our things and headed out around Fells Point for our first couple of photos.
Both Jillian and Ryan were amazing at keeping us comfortable and relaxed throughout the first couple photos – letting us be ourselves and helping us put our guard down.
After finishing up in Fells Point – we quickly changed outfits and headed over to Cylburn Arboretum to catch the sunset for some more shots.
